a BIG thank you!

First, my family & friends would like to say THANK YOU. Because of the utterly outstanding love & support you all gave Opie, he was able to have a successful surgery by the best Veterinary Ophthalmologist (Dr Joyce Murphy) in the Northwest. At first we really didn’t know if the little booger was going to make it because it was such a LARGE surgery for such a small puppy, but it had to be done. No matter how big or small your donation or even a simple reblog, we got there. Opie is now fully healed up, happy & healthy.

Last month when we rescued Opie we were told it was only blindness. No ulcers or any of that fun stuff. It was supposed to be something simple & easily treatable to keep him out of any discomfort. WHELP, it was much more than we were told. In all honesty, we had no idea what we were getting into when we rescued this little ball of terror. We were expecting & able to give him a happy normal life with what we had. We were able to afford the basics; good food, toys, treats, training, and a really long happy life with our family and his fur brother Rocco. We knew right away after getting him home at 9 weeks old that there was something else going on. His eyes were protruding outward, he winced in pain anytime his face was touched. Also, every time he would bump his butt on the wall or roll over too rough and bumped his tail he would whelp. Turns out he was also born with a “cork screwed” tail and it was very painful.

Thanks to you, on Febuary second, Opie was able to get the care he needed. He had both of his eyes removed, his cute piggy tail docked, was neutered/micro chipped, & was able to get his ears scraped of any infection.

Thank god Dr. Murphy gave us her personal cell phone number after his surgery because Opie had a really hard time. He was awake for two days completely uncomfortable and unable to sleep or keep any food down. We honestly thought we were going to lose him a few times. We had to do a lot of trial and error with different food and medications. You guys should have seen the stuff Dr Murphy had me throwing together to try and get Opie to eat. FINALLY, we figured out that this puppy LOVES eggs and cheese, it also had enough protein to keep him hanging on.

Then out of nowhere he was Opie again, getting into anything he could sniff out! Everyday since he has been getting better and better. Today I am happy to say Opie is a completely different puppy. He is such a chipper dog. Opie has the uncanny ability to stop anyone in their tracks and let out a big “AWWWWWE!”

There are no words to describe how thankful we are. Now that things have calmed down here for the moment I will be updating on Opie and Rocco daily. I don’t know how long the daily posts will last as we are expecting our nephew to come into the word any day now :)

So stay tuned to see more of the pups and meet little Brandon Gabriel once he is born. Life is good. Thank you :D
