First let me say I’m glad to help. I’m not sure if you were following Opies story but I’m here if you have any questions about administering meds, eye care or just support. It was only a month but Opies eye care took a huge tole….toll….toal??? I’m not sure which spelling it is :P but it took a lot of work & sleepless nights to keep Opie warm and comfortable. These little guys are so worth it and you have got to fight for him no matter who tries to tear you down and say its best to just let it be. You’re right by the way, Veterinary Opthamologists know what they are doing & like to get stuff done quickly. Some advice, if he ends up having to get the surgery, ask for your surgeons home or cell number, sounds weird and intrusive but you never know what can go wrong. I can’t tell you how many times we had to call Dr Murphy after hours to fax over a prescription or for advice on keeping Opie comfortable. Another thing, keep him eating and drinking PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN!! No matter the strange things you might have to cook up to get him to eat. Post-op, the only thing Opie would eat for a week was eggs and cheese. Lastly, give him all the warm cuddles you can, I also recommend a heating pad on medium heat when you are away. It’s tough to remember how much pain they are really in with eye ulcers. Dogs aren’t ones to show pain but I’m sure you can tell. Give him loves from me and Opie and a spoon of peanut butter.
